The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), on Monday, declared the appointment of new coaches for the senior national team. The national football managerial body retained Austin Eguavoen as the Super Eagles Technical Adviser on temporary basis.
Eguavoen took the Super Eagles to the just-closed Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon where they crashed out subsequent to losing to Tunisia in the round of sixteen. NFF additionally drafted in former Tanzanian National Team Manager, Emmanuel Amuneke,as Head Coach. But the question is will Super Eagles do well with them in charge?
The Nigeria Football Federation by the appointment indicated that their negotiations with Portuguese Coach, Jose Peseiro, to take over the Super Eagles job from sacked Gernot Rohr will not come true.
It should be recalled that effort by NFF for Amuneke to work with Rohr had hit the rocks about a year ago as he refused the speculated appointment allegedly on his stands that he could not be second in command to the former Manager
Apparently it was to reinforce the technical bench ahead of next month’s 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana’s Black Stars, that NFF drafted former Nigeria World Cup star and former Coach of Nigeria U17 World Cup winning team.
