The Technical Lead of Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance,Nwamaka Onyemelukwe has said that their aim is to take the gospel of sustainable waste management to all parts of the country.
She said however that they are using Lagos as a pilot project to work out effective strategy that could be adopted nationwide.
Onyemelukwe who disclosed this during the 1st sustainable waste symposium organised by West AfricaENRG which held at LCCI conference Centre,Alausa-Ikeja,said as a result of agreements reached at the event that more agents would be appointed nationwide.
She said the Alliance have made more progress over the last four years and is now registered outfit by guarantee that would be driven by an Executive Secretary in the overal interest of the nation.
She maintained that Coco-cola and other eight companies that teamed up to set it up are serious about setting up a recycling industry that would be profitable to those in the waste management value chain.
West Africa ENRG COO,Lolade Oresanwo in her contribution praised the Alliance and expressed the hopes that more would be done to support the sector to make it more meaningful to enterpreneurs and businesses.
